The Science Behind Why We Celebrate Holi In India

It’s that time of the year again: a time to celebrate the festival of colors, the festival of love. A spring festival that brings us closer, heals ruptured relationships, spreads joy and laughter and signifies the victory of good over evil.
Holi has cultural, social, mythological and scientific significance.

1. Prevents Diseases

The weather during Holi induces the growth of bacteria in the atmosphere and our bodies. There’s a reason why celebrations start with a Holika bonfire on the night before Holi. The heat from the fire cleanses these bacteria.

2. Promotes Good Health

We experience tardiness (feel sleepy and lazy) due to the change in weather conditions. The fun movements during Holi celebration rejuvenate our body, while getting rid of laziness.

3. Health Benefits of Natural Colors

During spring, the weather changes and our bodies get more prone to diseases likemeasles, chicken pox, viral fever and cold.
That’s the reason why colors were made from natural sources earlier. The colors penetrate our skin, strengthens the immune system and helps us ward off diseases.
